Children and Minors are victims of many forms of abuse of their rights including negligence, torture, lack of proper parenting, lack of essential education sparked by extreme poverty, internal and external conflicts, wars and political instability across different African Nations. Many children live as street kids, others stay with foster parents making it impossible for them to access education, shelter and better health services.
With the struggle to change the lives of children in Uganda and across Africa, we solemnly proclaim the establishment of an ORGANIZATION known as “LEYNA KAGERE CHILDREN FOUNDATION”
VISION: A happy childhood our hope for a better Africa.
MISSION: To enhance our pursuit for better livelihoods through advocacy for children rights and promote better systems for sustainability
Objectives of the Organisation
- To create an atmosphere favouring children and minors, LKCF shall enforce lawmakers to set up laws to protect the rights of children.
- To establish forums both online and offline where sensitization will take place against child abuse
- scaling efforts for addressing unequal treatment of children
- Addressing the needs of child survivors by advocating for their rights in relevant forums with key stake holders and partners.
- To promote girl child education and foster change through eradicating illiteracy.
- To educate people about the dangers of of the abuse of children’s rights, possible causes and how to eliminate the same out of their communities.
- Educating communities about the dangers of harmful cultural beliefs for that affect the lives of children for example, female genital mutilation.
- Peace building and implementation of UNSCR 2250 adopted by UNSC in 2015 about Youth, peace and security.
- Women/Youth Empowerment through formations of village saving and loan associations (VSLA) to empower single mothers to stand firm and look after their children to avoid child negligence.
- Promotion of talents through organisation of peace campaigns aimed at promoting the UNSCR 2250 indicated in section 8 above.
- LKCF shall compose heart healing songs to survivors of trauma to restore hope and create a safe space for them.
